The Post I Couldn’t Withhold

I don’t think I have a ton to say about Bristol Palin & Levi Johnston, but let’s see where this goes.

Last week the two lovebirds, turned awkward acquaintances, turned lovebirds announced to Us Weekly that they are engaged.

Seems they got back together while working out custody arrangements for their child. Awwwwwwww.

I was going to ignore this latest publicity outing, but I read something else today. The magazine allegedly paid $100,000 for the story. Okay, okay. Tabs pay cash for all sorts of unimportant stories. But a mag rep said the couple approached them with the story.

I suppose perceived fame does crazy things to the mind. Like making you think shopping your story is a good idea. Especially under the circumstances when Mama Palin probably isn’t thrilled.

The basic translation of this:

“Our parents hate our relationship. Naturally it makes sense to get engaged & make a magazine pay us money to rub it in their faces.”

I wonder what it must be like to have someone pay you $100,000 to cause epic disappointment to your family. Maybe Levi is a nice fellow. Maybe he just turns on the douchebag when camera are rolling. Who knows?

All I know is it’s sad in this country when a magazine pays any money to a celeb or pseudo-celeb for an annoying story when the money could be better spent in charitable ways.

But hey, they’re just out to make a buck on mag sales. People like us continue to feed this culture by buying the magazines. Maybe if people stopped paying attention to the Palin fiasco it will just go away.

Maybe.

Someday.
